ABOUT THE STUDIO RESIDENCY
The studio is located at Plexus Projects in the vibrant Greenpoint, Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City. The space is approximately 350 square feet with 10’ ceilings and includes utilities and amenities such as a ceiling-mounted projector, tables, chairs, A/C, heat, and WIFI. (See studio photos and details below). The studio and self-directed residency may be used for light art production, photography, video, creative research, art documentation, and installation experimentation. It is also suitable for private studio visits with the artist’s own guests. Please note that the studio is work-only and is not appropriate for artists working with methods that involve dust, wet media, fumes, debris, or loud noise. Each resident artist may also take advantage of studio visits for project advising and feedback with Plexus Projects founder and artist Laura Splan. Studio visits are typically conducted over Zoom but can be conducted in-person if scheduling allows. The studio residency combines the space and time for self-directed exploration with the opportunity to engage with a wider artist community through quarterly community work shares. A culminating online exhibition provides a platform to share your work within the curated context of the Plexus Projects website at the conclusion of the residency.

RESIDENCY SCHEDULING & FEES
See the application for currently available session dates. The residency fee is $2400 USD per 1-month session or $600 per 1-week session. A 50% deposit is paid at time of acceptance with the balance due 30 days in advance of the residency start date. A limited number of partial scholarships of up to $400 are available to help make the residency more accessible.

TIME COMMITMENT
Studio residencies are self-directed and the artist may choose to spend their time in the studio as they wish.

ELIGIBILITY
The Plexus Projects Studio Residency Program is open to individual artists working in any media and at any stage in their career. In the interest of inclusiveness, there is no education requirement. The residency accepts both international and local artists. It is well-suited to artists already living in the New York City metropolitan area as housing and transportation support are not provided. All communications are conducted in English.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS (~15 minutes to complete)
In the service of artists, the application is intentionally designed to be a low-lift process with no special file naming, formatting, or image sizing requirements. If you have a website, PDF, or social media that contains your content, there is no need to upload artwork or information that is already available via your links.

• Please note that is a semi-private studio adjacent to Plexus Projects founder Laura Splan’s primary studio. The residency studio space is not shared but has one wall that does not go all the way to the ceiling. (see photographs above.) The passageway to the neighboring studio must be kept clear to allow access to the shared building entrance and shared bathroom.
